Where, when and how to apply?

1. Where to apply?

1.1.  Short stay visa (Schengen Member States)

  • If the travel destination is one Schengen Member States, you have to apply at the Embassy or Consulate of this State.
  • If the travel destination includes more than one Schengen Member States, the application must be dealt with by the Embassy or Consulate of the main destination. The main destination is understood to be the destination where the applicant intends to spend the longest time or where the main purpose of the intended journey is carried out.
  • If no main destination can be determined, the Embassy or Consulate of the Schengen Member States whose external border the applicant intends to cross first must deal with the application

If, according to the above regulation, you have to apply for your Schengen visa with TLS our service provider in Cairo (Egypt) or with the Netherlands Embassy in Khartoum, all depends on the place you are registered and / or living.

Please note that: 
If you are not registered as permanent or temporary resident in Egypt, TLS can receive your application, but your file will be automatically submitted to the Ministry of Interior in Brussels for final decision.

1.2 Long stay visa (Belgium): 

1.2.1. If you are living in Egypt: you have to introduce your request personally with TLS in Cairo see https://be.tlscontact.com/eg/CAI/index.php

1.2.2. If you are living in Sudan: you have to introduce your request personally with TLS in Cairo see https://be.tlscontact.com/eg/CAI/index.php . Since 15/12/18 to introduce a long stay application, fingerprinting will be done at TLS.

Please note and be sure that:

  • All documents issued by the local authorities must be legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Khartoum prior to be sent. 
    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Authentication Department is located in Khartoum East at the Joint of Mc. Nimer Street with Jamaa St.

2. When to apply?

2.1. Short stay visa (Schengen Member States):

  • A visa application should in principle be lodged at least 15 working days before the intended visit and cannot be lodged earlier than six months before the start of the intended visit.
  • An application lodged less than 15 working days before the intended departure may be accepted, but the applicant should be informed that the final decision might be taken after the intended date of departure.
  • A holder of a multiple-entry visa may apply for a new visa before the expiry of the validity of the visa currently held. However, the validity of the new visa must complement the current visa, i.e. a person cannot hold two uniform visas valid for the same period in time.
  • If you apply for a short stay visa at the Dutch Embassy in Khartoum (see 1.2.2), please note that the visa application should in principe be lodged at least 6 weeks before the intended visit.

2.2. Long stay visa (Belgium):

Your application should be lodged as soon as possible.

 

3. How to introduce a file at the Belgian Embassy in Cairo?

Eventually family members proving they fall under the EU directive 2004/38 can send an e-mail to Cairo.Visa@diplobel.fed.be to arrange an appointment at the Embassy.

 

4. Biometric data

If you apply with TLS, please note that, according to the new Visa Information System, your fingerprint will be taken. This procedure takes only a few minutes to be done.

  • Children less then 6 years old
